Introducing.... Mr Mvaba

Hey darlings I hope you guys have been having a great week. This weekend promises to be one of the most exciting weekends that this year is yet to bring for the social scene of The Nelson Mandela Bay. The reason is because the inaugural Summer Wave Picnic, this event is brought to the NMB public by the genius that Mr Mvaba. This gentleman is a rare find, during the day you will find him work hard at his corporate job but besides that he is one of the most well distinguished event organisers who spearheads the Mvaba Group. The Mvaba Group has one sole mission and that is to evolve the NMB social scene. It can be stated that his passion for event organizing started during his high school days when he was part of the organizing committee for the parties that were held at his high school. This then transceded into his university days but he stated he was not much active until he was approached by a friend to assist in organizing an event of his. Mr Mvaba and his promoters The n...

Entertainment Roundup!

Hey darlings so this week was a bit of a slow week in terms of entertainment news but there were definitely some happenings that deserve to be noted. Sourced from  https://thatgrapejuice.net 1) Kanye West to release a new album today Well according to the trusted resources the word on the street is that Kanye West is finally releasing a follow-up to the masterpiece that was 'Life of Pablo'. The new album is titled 'Jesus is King'. This is not surprising as Kanye has been hosting Sunday service performances all in the narrative that he is 'born again'. I have to say that after watching the trailer for the visual album which was released on 17 October. The visual album was directed by acclaimed director, Nick Knight. The setting of the visual album is the Painted desert of Arizona where one of his Sunday services have taken place. The hype of the trailer was followed by the release of the official tracklist of the album. I must admit that when it com...

The Fergusons vs Former Employees

Hey guys so this is a story I have been wanting to cover on the blog but I had a feeling that I should wait because I knew it was gonna be taken to another level. The drama started with Vatiswa Ndara publishing an open letter where she states that she and the rest of the cast wanted to submit Igazi  for the international Emmys. The open letter included correspondence between Vatiswa and the office of the minister of Arts & Culture, Nathi Mthetwa where Ms Ndara requested for funding to submit nominations for Igaz i. The office responded that unfortunately they could not allocate the requested funds. The story then took a turn when the Fergusons issued a statement that they were not able to provide Miss Ndara with the R700 000 that she requested, this was a fact that was not included in Miss Ndara's open letter and social media posts. the production company then went on to refute other allegations made by Miss Ndara such as that the production company benefits from th...

AFI JHB Fashion Week Roundup:

This past week the African Fashion International Johannesburg Fashion Week spring/summer collections was held at the Sandton Convention Center. I obviously was not able to attend the fashion extravaganza which was held under the theme of "African Fashion Unites" which is definitely necessary in the time that we live in. Black was once again a fixture in David Tlale's collection When I was reading the reviews of the fashion week, there was one constant theme; the praise for David Tlale. The show was held in honour of his constant muse who happens to be his mother, Joyce. The show potrayed a powerful woman who held her own and had a firm belief in GOD. This was especially highlighted by the soundtrack of the collection which was African beats and gospel music towards the end of the show. It was an overall  visual masterpiece. Ntando Duma with her Daughter at the Khosi Nkosi show As per past shows the runways were as as star-studded as the front rows. The m...

EVENTS TO BE SEEN AT:

Hi kids well I know I have been a little quiet but you know I was just getting my life. This summer is set to begin with some great events especially in the months of October and November. These events are not just fun-orientated events, but they are also great platform for promoting the great talent that we have here in the Nelson Mandela Bay. This would lead to a boost in the cultural scene of our great city The second installment of the #BayKotaFest is set to be an unforgettable experience that will be held at The Tramways on 27 October. This is a type of event that is not traditionally held in Port Elizabeth and that right there is the key selling factor of this particular event. This event is proof that entrepreneurs here in the Bay are thinking of innovative ways in order to bring their products to their consumers. I personally am looking forward to tasting the delicious food that will be sold at the event and enjoying the entertainment. The tickets are affordable and the li...

The revolution is here!!!

I was browsing through the latest issue of the South African Glamour Magazine and I actually noticed that the majority of the models that were featured in the publication were black models. This is a fact that is significant in an industry where representation has become a very sensitive topic. This change has come about after the appointment of Asanda Sizani as the editor in chief of the publication. This itself was groundbreaking as she is the first black editor of this particular international magazine. Asanda Sizani is no stranger in the fashion media industry. The fashion revolutionary hails from the Eastern Cape and pursued her education in fashion at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.  The impressive credentials that are synonymous with her name have built her legacy within the South African media and fashion industry.  I was specifically impressed by the manner that she changed everything about the magazine from the layout to the models that are featured i...

Hey beautiful people, I hope you are all well and surviving this tough yet beautiful journey called life. I have decided to add a new feature to the blog that will be titled, 'Person of Interest'. This feature is dedicated to individuals who are paving their own way and making a name for themselves in their respective careers. One of the many images that she has styled Our inaugural person interest is the talented Imkhitha Mani. The reason why we are profiling is because she is currently a radio disk jockey at In4Radio, a fashion stylist and she has great style to top it all off. She credits her love of fashion and her entry into fashion styling to her mother as she was a designer. She states that " I was always around fabric and I saw how she was a visionary in changing spaces so I gravitated towards the fashion but on a conceptualizing aspect , hence styling" when she describes how her mother introduced fashion to her. She is a genius behind the mic ...
