THE REAL HOUSEWIVES CORNER..........

It cannot be argued that one of the biggest reality tv franchises that have captured the world is the Real Housewives franchise. I am a dedicated fan and I am a follower of most of the cities. I will be using this segment of the blog to comment on the Real Housewives franchises so enjoy.....

1. The introduction of The Real Housewives of Lagos

I must say that today was a significant day for the African Real Housewives franchises because they just received serious competition in the form of the ladies of Lagos. The premiere episode contained what I love in every premiere Real Housewives episode; we got a glimpse into the lives of five of the ladies and the episode contained both a touch of shade and humor. The only criticism I have is that the producers spent way too much screentime on each cast member this resulted in us as the viewers not getting enough scenes of the ladies interacting together but it was sufficient to get us to tune in next week. I must say I already have a few favorites but here is what I think of the ladies that we have already been introduced to.

1. Carolyna Hutchings - I believe that Carolyna will not really stir up a lot of drama in sense of her coming for the other ladies but some of the cast members might come for her. I also believe that the storyline for the season will revolve around her history with Tiannah as hinted by Laura that there might be a history of tension between the two.

2. Laura Ikegi- This one cast member has already started to work for a contract renewal for the next season. The amount of shade that she was throwing at the first event of the season just proves that she has a lot to say about the ladies and she is not afraid of showing her dislike of other cast members such as Carolyna and Chioma.

3. Chioma- This is one lady who will definitely be an acquired taste for some of the ladies. The initial first reaction one would have of Chioma is that she is a bit aloof but I was pleased to see her interacting well with the other ladies (well some of them).

4. Toyin - This diva extraordinaire is definitely a favorite of mine already. I believe that she will give us positive Nene Leakes vibes in the sense of trying to believe all the girls together. I love the fact that she was positive during her interactions with the other ladies and that ball of energy is infectious.

5. Iyabo- I appreciate her honesty and openness during the first episode as it would not be easy to discuss her history of abuse. I expect some more transparency from her and being a loyal friend to Toyin. I also appreciate the fact that she was open to opening up to the other ladies, unlike Laura.

The ladies have definitely got me begging for more, I cannot wait until next week's episode.

1. The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills trailer

I honestly thought that we were going to get another mediocre season of RHOBH which starts off pleasant before all the drama kicks in but the trailer sorta-kinda proved me wrong. We can definitely expect Erika to show off her villainous side and coming for some of the other ladies most notably Garcelle and poor Crystal. I cannot wait to see Lisa Rinna inserting herself in the Richard sister's drama again and us getting that evil grin of hers again. The rest of the information spilled in the trailer was titillating in the sense of us as the viewers wanting o know exactly what happened especially the exile of Kathy Hilton. The new season will premiere on 11 May 2022.

Can a reality show thrive without the drama?

The fabulous ladies of 'The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice ' have proven you can have the sweetness and the sass. Image source: X (@NowInSa) It can be said that the ultimate ingredient to every reality show is drama but is The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice proving that wrong? In a perfect world when asked ‘Why do you watch reality television shows’ we might be quick to say we watch those shows because of the insights into the different lives and cultures of the cast members and so forth but if we are honest, it is the ongoing drama and conflict that has us tuning in to every episode of that specific shows. The reality show that is changing it all These reality shows such as The Real Housewives  franchises, The Mommy Club franchise, Big Brother  etc. are what we call our guilty pleasures. There is a new debate of whether reality tv can educate without the mess of drama, which was brought forward by one of these shows, The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice which is a spinoff f

The 'revolt' against Beyonce

It is no secret that the release of a Beyonce album whether it is pre-announced or a surprise drop is bound to get the masses talking. The water-cooler talk can be both positive or negative.  This is seemingly the case with the upcoming release of the second act, Cowboy Carter  in the three act Renaissance series that Beyonce has gifted us with. The alternative album cover. Image via X @ColumbiaRecords The Cowboy Carter album sees the reigning queen of music exploring a genre which is not new within her discography and that is country music. This innovative move has sparked praise and criticism alike. The argument brought forward by the critics, most recently Azealia Banks, who is known for her very outspoken opinion, is that Beyonce is using 'victim mentality' to promote the album and to enter a market that will never embrace her. It can be said that her foray into country music has not been greatly welcomed by the listeners of the genre.  This resulted

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF DURBAN STATE OF AFFAIRS

The fourth season of The Real Housewives of Durban has not failed to deliver drama-filled episodes. The Durban based segment of the Real Housewives franchise is definitely in the frontrunner to be considered the leading African installment. The show has been getting viewers talking since it made its debut in 2021 and every season has delivered when it came to shade, drama and of course fabulous fashion. We are currently on episode 11 of the fourth season and there is much to dissect regarding the happenings of this season. 1. The ladies divided We left the group at the end of season 3 divided between Team Sorisha (Sorisha, Maria, Slee and Annie) and Team Nonku (Nonku & Jojo). The new season introduced three more ladies to the mix of the already divided circle. The new additions easily fitted into the group where most of them naturally gravitated towards the resident Queen B, I mean Sorisha. This was without the exception of Zama who ironically had been introduced to the group by S
