REAL HOUSEWIVES OF DURBAN STATE OF AFFAIRS

The fourth season of The Real Housewives of Durban has not failed to deliver drama-filled episodes. The Durban based segment of the Real Housewives franchise is definitely in the frontrunner to be considered the leading African installment.

The show has been getting viewers talking since it made its debut in 2021 and every season has delivered when it came to shade, drama and of course fabulous fashion. We are currently on episode 11 of the fourth season and there is much to dissect regarding the happenings of this season.

1. The ladies divided

We left the group at the end of season 3 divided between Team Sorisha (Sorisha, Maria, Slee and Annie) and Team Nonku (Nonku & Jojo). The new season introduced three more ladies to the mix of the already divided circle. The new additions easily fitted into the group where most of them naturally gravitated towards the resident Queen B, I mean Sorisha. This was without the exception of Zama who ironically had been introduced to the group by Sorisha.

This season also saw Maria making her jump from Team Sorisha to Team Nonku. This move was not completely surprising considering the comments that Maria had made about Sorisha in the early episodes of season 3. This time she activated a full blown campaign to discredit Mrs Naidoo (more on this later though).

So the teams this season have been adjusted to Team Sorisha (Sorisha, Slee, Angel, Ameigh) and Team Joku( Nonku, Jojo, Maria and Zama). The term 'a house divided' doesn't start to describe this situation. The show is starting to feel like a crossover between a typical housewives franchise and Survivor.

Scandalous accusations and recordings

The major storylines of the season have been notably the arguments centered around damaging allegations made by Zama, who has has delivered the most funniest diary sessions of the season. These accusations have lead her to be on outs with the other two new ladies Angel and Ameigh.

These accusations have included fake hijackings and one claiming her parents wealth as her own. The 'hijacking' storyline has taken a large part of the new season where it even spilled into social media where celebrity gossip blogger Musa Khawula provided some questionable receipts regarding the matter.

The fights that have been happening between the group have led the girls to start recording crucial conversations that will provide useful ammunition during arguments and the reunion of course. The latest recording played on the latest episode is where Zama elaborates on the hijacking story.

This saw her fellow allies being notably disturbed by what she said, they will probably be back on her camp next week.

The People vs Sorisha

The story of Maria and Sorisha's friendship is seemingly more complicated than we anticipated. The previous season we saw the introduction of Maria who at first tried to come for Sorisha but then naturally saw Sorisha's influence amongst the group and decided to be a part of the consensus.

The reconciliation between Maria and Joku seemingly gave Maria the opportunity to continue the negative narrative against Sorisha. She has labelled Sorisha the 'puppetmaster' of the group. There is a little truth to this as Sorisha has sometimes stirred the pot on more than one occasion.

Sorisha is clearly the one to beat.

We then saw Maria rope in Neil (her make-up artist) who as we found out in the latest episode has some negative history with Sorisha. This was also evident where Sorisha brought alongside an ex friend of Neil. So as you and I try to understand all of this, I am personally looking forward to the reunion to see if the real tea will be spilled.

The new episodes of The Real Housewives of Durban are available to stream every Wednesday on Showmax.

The 'revolt' against Beyonce

It is no secret that the release of a Beyonce album whether it is pre-announced or a surprise drop is bound to get the masses talking. The water-cooler talk can be both positive or negative.  This is seemingly the case with the upcoming release of the second act, Cowboy Carter  in the three act Renaissance series that Beyonce has gifted us with. The alternative album cover. Image via X @ColumbiaRecords The Cowboy Carter album sees the reigning queen of music exploring a genre which is not new within her discography and that is country music. This innovative move has sparked praise and criticism alike. The argument brought forward by the critics, most recently Azealia Banks, who is known for her very outspoken opinion, is that Beyonce is using 'victim mentality' to promote the album and to enter a market that will never embrace her. It can be said that her foray into country music has not been greatly welcomed by the listeners of the genre.  This resulted
