2022 Met Gala Review.......

So another year, another Met Gala event to review. I must say the celebrities brought it to the red carpet at this year's outing. I was mostly impressed that most of the attendees at the event actually stuck to the theme which was Gilded Glamour . I have compiled a small edit of my favourite looks. I must say I was disappointed that Rihanna did not grace the red carpet but the Met Museum did pay tribute to her in the best way possible with a fabulous statue, how fitting for the queen of the Met Gala.

Here is the edit of my top ten favourite looks from this year's Met Gala:

1. Blake Lively

2. Kim Kardashian-West

3. Alicia Keys

4. Simone Ashley

5. Gigi Hadid

6. Kendall Jenner

7.  Bella Hadid

8. Kaia Jordan Gerber

9. Hailey Bieber

10. Sarah Jessica-Parker

There are other notable mentions such as Nicki Minaj, Ciara, Sarah Jessica Parker. I must say this year was one of my favourite Met Gala editions as this year they actually stuck to the theme and went to town with it. The absence of certain regular attendees such Rihanna was felt but we were impressed another great job from the grande dame of fashion Anna Wintour.

The fabulous ladies of 'The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice ' have proven you can have the sweetness and the sass. Image source: X (@NowInSa) It can be said that the ultimate ingredient to every reality show is drama but is The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice proving that wrong? In a perfect world when asked ‘Why do you watch reality television shows’ we might be quick to say we watch those shows because of the insights into the different lives and cultures of the cast members and so forth but if we are honest, it is the ongoing drama and conflict that has us tuning in to every episode of that specific shows. The reality show that is changing it all These reality shows such as The Real Housewives  franchises, The Mommy Club franchise, Big Brother  etc. are what we call our guilty pleasures. There is a new debate of whether reality tv can educate without the mess of drama, which was brought forward by one of these shows, The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice which is ...

Roundup: ‘Blood Legacy’

The latest release from Gambit Productions ‘Blood Legacy’ has just rightfully earned its spot on the list of the productions that have set the bar amongst this year’s releases with its stellar cast and quality production aesthetic that has had South Africa buzzing with excitement. You know those goosebumps you feel after watching a trailer for an upcoming Netflix or Showmax release, that is what I felt after I watched the trailer for Blood Legacy for the first time. The show which is set in Durban lived up to the standards that were set by the trailer. A great cast is the key ingredient The first aspect of the show that grabs your attention when you watch the first episode is the amazing casting. The combination of the legendary, veteran and the up-and-coming actors that we are lucky to have here in South Africa can be found on the show.   The legendary would be the late Connie Chiume and Sello Maake Ka-Ncube, the veterans would be Xolile Tshabalala, Pallance Dladla, Enhle...

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Love Story is coming......

So Shondaland and Netflix have finally decided to release the trailer for the much anticipated Bridgerton prequel revolving around the origins of one of the show’s beloved character, Queen Charlotte and her marriage with King George. The trailer for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Love Story gave all the titilating snippets that one could have asked for as we see how the king and queen met (which was through an arranged marriage). We also get to see the turbulent times during the royal marriage as Charlotte had to adjust to the English court as she was originally from Germany and their crowning. The statement from the studio and streaming service did state that Lady Bridgerton and Lady Danbury will also be included in the show. The trailer does show a younger Lady Danbury (excellent casting btw) however we do not get a glimpse of Lady Bridgerton. I will definitely be watching when the show premieres on Netflix on 4 May. Check out the trailer below
