Its new month and that means new fabulous events that are going to be happening here in Port Elizabeth. These are the following events one cannot miss


The Wine Stand events are always a treat for wine lovers. This edition of the events will come with an extra twist as the event will be held at the Black Impala Tshisanyama. The event will be a combination of traditional wine tasting in the fashion of the Wine Night Stand brand fused with the unique tshisanyama experience. The tasting come in the following packages:

As part of the exhibition, an inclusive Talk/Panel discussion, Dialog Port Elizabeth premieres on 30 March 2018 .This will be led by esteemed panels comprising of artists, designers, collectors and art influencers.

In keeping with its ethos of exposure and representation, artEC continues to include open shows in its annual exhibition calendar to provide opportunities for unestablished artists. Their ethos aligns with The PPC Imaginarium’s vision in its attempt to nurture, promote and establish young artists and designers as leaders in their respective fields.

First launched by the innovation department of the renowned cement company PPC Ltd, the PPC Imaginarium is an art-and-design competition that challenges emerging artists and designers to demonstrate their knack for innovation by incorporating concrete into their respective disciplines.

Now in its fourth year, the PPC Imaginarium has established itself firmly as South Africa’s top career-launching platform for up-and-coming artists and designers. With a cash prize totaling R 500 000, entrants of the 2018 PPC Imaginarium Awards have a strong incentive to win or be a runner-up in their categories. With that said, entrants will receive wide exposure and be mentored throughout the process. Finalists have the auspicious honour of exhibiting at several major events and galleries – including the Turbine Art Fair and 100% Design South Africa – in the annual travelling exhibition of the PPC Imaginarium Awards.

To expand both their appeal and representation, the PPC Imaginarium Awards have judging stations across South Africa, including in Durban, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. “We want to continue to build, support and grow the creative industries and those who are part of it!” says Director Daniel van der Merwe.

The PPC Imaginarium will host three pop-up exhibitions of Awards finalists in March 2018. Hosted by the artEC Community Art Centre, the PE pop-up show gives Eastern Cape finalists the chance to live up to the skill, talent and creativity that the PPC Imaginarium has come to command in its entries.

ABOUT PPC IMAGINARIUM:
In 2014, PPC extended its existing sculpture, fine art, and industrial design competition (The Young Concrete Sculptor Awards) to include the creative disciplines of jewellery, fashion and film. As a result, the PPC Imaginarium Awards came into being. The ambitious art-and-design contest gives emerging artists and designers the chance to showcase their talents through the medium of concrete.

As a writer I am so excited that Port Elizabeth will be having a poetry slam on 17 March 2018. The event will be held on 17 March 2018 at Art on Target. The entrance is R20 and there will be a local artist who will be performing. Guests are also encouraged to perform with a payment of R25 per poem. There will also be a prize to be won. The Fergusons vs Former Employees

Hey guys so this is a story I have been wanting to cover on the blog but I had a feeling that I should wait because I knew it was gonna be taken to another level. The drama started with Vatiswa Ndara publishing an open letter where she states that she and the rest of the cast wanted to submit Igazi  for the international Emmys. The open letter included correspondence between Vatiswa and the office of the minister of Arts & Culture, Nathi Mthetwa where Ms Ndara requested for funding to submit nominations for Igaz i. The office responded that unfortunately they could not allocate the requested funds.
