Ladies Who Wine......

I have discovered ladies who are after my own heart. These are the fabulous ladies of the Wine_ish brand and they are the quartet of Hlumelo Williams, Palesa Mapheelle, Obakeng Monamodi and Buhlebezwe Ndaba. I was totally impressed when I was first exposed to their brand on Instagram. I staying true to form, looked up the brand on social media and I then made the first step which led to the birth of this feature.
I would say that I am a wine lover but I will be the first to admit that I am not equipped with all the knowledge that would qualify me as a 'wine connoseur'. The Wine_ish brand is there to equip us with the necessary knowledge about wine whilst having the time of our lives at the same time. This is currently being done through their Youtube channel where they documents their visits to  various wine bars and have a gathering titled, 'Winesday' which is an event that is meant to be a gathering of all wine lovers. They also provide fabulous tutorials on making the perfect drink on their Youtube channel.
These events have provided the perfect opportunity for attendees to learn more about different wines, this is echoed in the sentiments of one of the attendees of the events where they were tasting the Constantia Glen range, where she states that she found the event " very important". The 'Winesday' events were birthed from Wednesday gatherings where the ladies, like all of us, would meet to discuss the latest happenings in their lives, career and love lives. This is a common activity that inspired a platform for wine education.
The most appealing aspect of the wine_ish brand is the spirit of its founders. The fact that the brand was founded by young, ambitious black women is a key point because the South African industry was mostly dominated by white business owners. The glorious disruption came in 2004 when Ntsiki Biyela, a former winemaker who was employed at Stellekay, started her own wines, Aslina Wines. This started a rising trend of black winemakers most notably media personality Bonang Matheba with her House of BNG MCC.
The wine_ish brand is most definitely one brand that we will be watching with excitement. The brand is one that is set to revolutionise the local wine industry. This potential has been recognized by the brands that they have already collaborated with which include Aperol Spritz, Steenberg, Constantia Glen, Creation and Spier amongst others. We can look forward to many great things from the brand and to echo one of the founding members, Hlumelo Williams, we must "watch this space".

Image source: X (@NowInSa) It can be said that the ultimate ingredient to every reality show is drama but is The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice proving that wrong? In a perfect world when asked ‘Why do you watch reality television shows’ we might be quick to say we watch those shows because of the insights into the different lives and cultures of the cast members and so forth but if we are honest, it is the ongoing drama and conflict that has us tuning in to every episode of that specific shows. The 'revolt' against Beyonce

It is no secret that the release of a Beyonce album whether it is pre-announced or a surprise drop is bound to get the masses talking. The water-cooler talk can be both positive or negative.  This is seemingly the case with the upcoming release of the second act, Cowboy Carter  in the three act Renaissance series that Beyonce has gifted us with. The alternative album cover. Image via X @ColumbiaRecords The Cowboy Carter album sees the reigning queen of music exploring a genre which is not new within her discography and that is country music. This innovative move has sparked praise and criticism alike. The argument brought forward by the critics, most recently Azealia Banks, who is known for her very outspoken opinion, is that Beyonce is using 'victim mentality' to promote the album and to enter a market that will never embrace her. It can be said that her foray into country music has not been greatly welcomed by the listeners of the genre.  This resulted

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF DURBAN STATE OF AFFAIRS

The fourth season of The Real Housewives of Durban has not failed to deliver drama-filled episodes. The Durban based segment of the Real Housewives franchise is definitely in the frontrunner to be considered the leading African installment. The show has been getting viewers talking since it made its debut in 2021 and every season has delivered when it came to shade, drama and of course fabulous fashion. We are currently on episode 11 of the fourth season and there is much to dissect regarding the happenings of this season. 1. The ladies divided We left the group at the end of season 3 divided between Team Sorisha (Sorisha, Maria, Slee and Annie) and Team Nonku (Nonku & Jojo). The new season introduced three more ladies to the mix of the already divided circle. The new additions easily fitted into the group where most of them naturally gravitated towards the resident Queen B, I mean Sorisha. This was without the exception of Zama who ironically had been introduced to the group by S
