Fluid Exhibition: Review

The Arts & Culture department at Nelson Mandela University held the Fluid exhibition last week Thursday at the Bird Street Campus of the university. I have to say it was one of the best events that I have ever attended in my life thus far. As I walked into the art gallery, I was greeted by models showcasing the work of the talented Nehemiah Latolla who also doubles as a science Phd student. The items from the Nehemiah Designs range was the epitome of fashion that defines gender fluidity because the clothing items would not be normally considered appropriate for the traditional male. The same can be said for the items presented by renowned fashion design graduate Dalton Smit, whose crochet shorts literally made me feel happy inside. The event then proceeded on to the panel discussion where individuals who had in-depth knowledge on the topic were part of the panel. I particularly enjoyed the question and answer session because it personally answered the questions t...

UPCOMING EVENTS

As August is officially Women's Month it is naturally my favourite month. Most of my role models are powerful women, so I am always on board when it comes to celebrating women. The best aspect about all of these events is that they celebrate the individual. The Black Filmaker's Film Screening is focused on showing films that portray the struggles of women as well as some other exciting features that are part of the programme. The Imibala event is a musical showcase which I am most excited about as an avid music fan. The lineup looks really good especially since it includes Miss DJ Jay, Tamrryn Swarts and other talented artists. The Fluid exhibition is defiantly going to be the highlight of my week. I am always keen on events that question society's traditional views on gender stereotypes and conformity. So I look forward to seeing you at one of these fabulous events.

TOPS AT SPAR WINE SHOW REVIEW

Everyone who knows me knows how much I love my wine. It was quite obvious that I was in heaven when I attended the recent Tops at Spar Wine Show, which was held at The Boardwalk during 27-29 July 2017.  I had attended the Friday session and it was quite an experience. The wine was definitely pouring The vendors were always ready to assist and inform The event surpassed my expectations. The variety of wines at the event were delicious and I am proud to admit that my wine taste buds have improved since the event. I tasted wines I normally shy away from such as white wine but I definitely enjoyed the ones that were available at the event. The wine was not the only sexy thing at the event :) I look forward to the next event. I am sure that the next one will be bigger and better. Last night an exhibition changed my life......

I recently had the honour of attending the opening of the Diffusion or Fusion exhibition, which was held at Galerie Noko on 27 June 2017. The pieces on display were accurate observations of today's society. The images ranged from political to domestic statements. The experience opened my eyes to the wonderful world of art. Prior to attending the opening of this specific exhibition, I had been to a few exhibitions, but this encounter with the art world left a lasting impression which would stay with me for a very long time. The reason I say attending the exhibition influenced my point of view is because it re-introduced me to the world of the creative. The amount of time and effort that creatives put in their work is proof of their passion for their craft. We should all learn to appreciate and motivate the creatives that are amongst us, as this would lead to a better society than the one that we currently live in. I strongly urge you to attend art exhibitio...
